LACTATION CONSULTANT
I began my career as a Registered Nurse in 2003, working at the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital. When I became pregnant with my daughter, I took time off to fulfill a life-long dream of becoming a mother. I quickly discovered how challenging breastfeeding a newborn can be! At two weeks old, my baby girl had only gained one ounce.
Terrified, I sought the help of a lactation consultant who taught me how to improve latching and milk transfer. My daughter thrived and breastfeeding became my passion. In 2008, I became a Certified Lactation Educator just before my identical twin boys were born. Breastfeeding twins was an incredible experience and further bolstered my desire to work as a lactation consultant.
When my children were toddlers, I worked at the Pump Station and Nurtury for 3 years as a Lactation Educator. There I helped answer breastfeeding questions, facilitated breastfeeding support groups, led baby-wearing clinics, and taught breastfeeding classes for families expecting multiples. In 2014, I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and have since been in private practice, helping families achieve their infant feeding goals.
I believe that new parents need every bit of help they can get, and it is my absolute joy to give them the knowledge and confidence to feed their babies. Because I know first hand how painful and upsetting it can be when breastfeeding does not go well, I am dedicated to helping my clients through any challenges that arise. I approach each family with compassion and without judgement. Nurturing new families is my job and my pleasure.
"I loved my consultations with Kelli. She’s very knowledgeable, supportive and thorough. She helped me with the weaning process which was challenging physically and emotionally. She supported me every step of the way and provided ample information and research to confirm my decision. Not only is Kelli a skilled lactation consultant, but she is also a wonderful human:). " Lara
